Celebrity Gossip: July 18 to July 24

Good day lovelies,

Are you ready for your most recent dose of celeb gossip? I know I am. Here we go darlings!!

- According to Perez Hilton, Posh Spice Victoria Beckham has decided to breastfeed this time around for her daughter, Harper. For her three other children, she bottlefed. That's good since many studies show (which I will not source cause I don't care enough to :) that breastfeeding does tons of good for kids, as well as, helps women lose the baby weight. Too bad for her other three I guess...

- Lilo is being sued!!! Lindsey Lohan is being sued for millions by the Betty Ford worker, Dawn Holland, who claims she was injured in an attack by Lindsey while Lindsey was in rehab. Criminal charges were dismissed in this case in March due to lack of evidence yet, Holland is now deciding to pursue Lilo in civil court. (Perez Hilton). That's the way to get anything... sue em'. Also, Lilo is claiming in court she cannot afford her mandatory counselling! Poor little Lindsey says she cannot go to more affordable conselling due to paparazzi... The judge rightly said she still needs to attend. Nice try, Lilo.

- People is reporting that Scarlett Johanssen and Justin Bartha might be seeing each other. Sources close to the couple say they are just friends. We shall see. Wasn't ScarJo married to Ryan Reynolds?? Wait wasn't she dating Sean Penn? Wait... I could go on. Good for her for getting back on the wagon.

- Last Friday, Vanessa Manillo and Nick Lachey were married. If you would like to see the whole thing, there will be a TLC special playing on Saturday. As if Nick did not learn last time not to do this... Well good for them and congrats!

- Demi Lovato is being linked to two hunks this week: Ryan Philippe and Darren Criss! Lucky girl!!

- Paris Hilton walked out of an interview with ABC News anchor Dan Harris when he asked her if she ever thought she is a has-been (People), who has had her moment. Good work Dan, that is exactly the way to get people to come on your show and let you interview them, regardless if its kind of true. I have always found her highly amusing so I am all about long live Paris and all that.

- According to Perez Hilton, Posh Spice Victoria Beckham has decided to breastfeed this time around for her daughter, Harper. For her three other children, she bottle fed. That's good since many studies show (which I will not source cause I don't care enough to :) that breastfeeding does tons of good for kids, as well as, helps women lose the baby weight. Too bad for her other three I guess...

- Many news outlets are reporting that Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London home by police on Saturday. She joins the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and Kurt Cobain in the forever 27 club (artists who have died at age 27 - What a seriously unlucky number!!). Very sad! UPDATE: The coroner's report is inconclusive and we will not know anything for sure until the tox screen comes back in 3 or 4 weeks.

So celeb gossip hounds, what are your thoughts? Do you think Paris Hilton is a has-been? What are your thoughts on breast milk? On a more serious note, are you as saddened by Amy Winehouse's death as I am?

6 Things on My Radar

Evening kiddies,

I have seen other bloggers do these kinds of lists and I have myself done top ten lists, so I decided to try it out and write about six things that are on my radar at the moment - and really six things I most recently purchased... haha I did a lot of shopping this weekend... A LOT! So I thought since my purchases, among other things, are on my radar, I would share them with you!

1. Light blue nail polish: this trend is popping up all over the place and I am loving it! When I went to buy the nail polish, I was hoping to find a more minty looking colour but I am really pleased with what I found. I feel like it brings a splash of colour to everything I wear! It reminds me of the bluest part of the ocean where the sun hits it and it makes me think of tans, the beach, sand and sun. I just love it!

This is a Nicole by OPI colour called My Lifesaver (9$ from the drugstore)

2. Gold bracelet / necklace: I picked up this little versatile jem for 7$ at Smart Set. It was in fact my good friend TheJMay who said it could be worn as a bracelet as well as a necklace and she was so right! I love the gold, I love all the colour. It's just gorge and I will wear it a ton!!!

See both pics for the versatile way this piece can be worn.

3. Wing Earrings: Now these babies are my fav! I would and most likely will wear these so much!! I think they are a little rock and roll, a little badass and a whole lot of sass with a little Mayan or Greek flavor thrown in. I think they are just rockin. I love how gold they are, I love how big and showy they are. I just adore them. I got them at the Bay (Expressions Line). They also come in silver.

Expressions Line from the Bay (9$)

4. Gold / Metallic Sandals: I have been looking and looking for the perfect pair of metallic glad sandals all summer. My mum wanted to celebrate (she had a skin graft tested and everything turned out ok and she is fine!!!) so we went to go shopping: first to Globo and then to our next fav store: the bookstore (see next fav thing for that).

The minute I saw these beauties, I knew they were the right ones I have been looking for. I think they are the perfect ambiguous metallic that will go with everything. I can wear them with silver, gold and bronze and I can wear them with any kind of pant or skirt or dress. I am totally looking forward to matching them up with some super outfits.

5. Books, Books, Books: The next stop on my mum's celebration train was our fav, fav, fav store: the bookstore!! I picked up a few books to add to my collection for summer reading! (Look for a future post about my summer reading list so far!) On this trip, I got two more in the Anita Blake series of Vampire books, the second book in the Del Toro virus series (so good and scary!!) and what I am most excited about the newest Game of Thrones book: A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin.

I have already started it and I am soooo excited!!! It is sooo good! I highly recommend this series. If you like books about the middle ages and fantasy books, this is the two combined. Lots of graphic battles, violence, sex and intrigue. What I like best about the books is the way the author has a point of view of a character in each chapter. You understand their mind, thoughts and motives and then you move on to another point of view and get a completely different look at the same event. Its a great and exciting way to create rich characters and complicated, interweaving narrative.

6. True Blood: This just needs to be mentioned because this season has been amazing and I just needed to say that. Watch it, you won't regret it. It is pure sex and hilarity and violence.

So one of my co-workers from my old group at work gave me this bottle of Tru Blood because she was leaving the agency and had no use for this any longer. I am torn about whether I should drink it or not... hhhmmm...

Anyways, thoughts? What do you think of my new purchases? Do those wing earrings also remind you of a badass 70s rocker? What do you think of blue nail polish?

Hot or Not: Gold Eye Shadow

As we speak, lovelies, I am wearing gold eye shadow. This trend is popping up for fall - I think to go along with the gold jewelery trend we have been seeing this summer everywhere. I love gold anything. This is a trend that has grown on me most recently, because in the past, I was all about silver. But now, I am all about gold, gold, gold. I have been wearing gold nail polish this summer quite often and now I am rockin the gold eye shadow.

Here I am rocking it:

Now, its your turn. What are your thoughts? Check out the photos below for some ideas.

Celebrity Gossip: July 11 to July 17.

Morning kiddies,

Sorry it has been a while since I put out one of these. Hope you enjoy your daily dose of celeb gossip.

  - Mila Kunis has accepted an invitation to attend the Marine Corps Ball with Sgt. Scott Moore (EW.com). Moore invited Mila through a video.Unfortunately, after accepting, she realized she has a scheduling conflict and will not be able to attend. Nice of her to try tho, considering he is a perfect stranger.

- According to TMZ, Halle Berry called the police TWICE last weekend, when she was terrorized by the same individual. It has been reported he broke into her house to be chased away by her security, only to return and be caught looking in her kitchen window! He reportedly returned to her house late Monday night and was arrested. What a creep!

- Babies, Babies, Babies!!! This past week, Posh Spice and Becks had their baby! (People) Harper Seven joins big brothers Brooklyn, Cruz and Romeo! I love love the name! So cute and unique! Kate Hudson (boy), Ivanka Trump (girl) and Jewel (boy) also had babies this past week! Wow baby fever!!

- Speaking of baby fever... Octomom!!! (Nadya Suleman) and 3Rd Rock from the Sun star, Kristen Johnson, (TMZ) reportedly got into an altercation on a plane when Octomom was unable to keep her 12 kids quiet in business class. Honestly, I like babies, but 12 kids crying on a plane is enough to drive anyone nuts.

 - Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have broken up! I am very shocked by this for some reason, despite this being Jennifer's 3rd husband. Very sad for her babies!!

Ok so short and sweet this week.

Fall Fashion Preview: I think I am seeing spots!

Hello kiddies,

I know it has been quite some time since I have posted anything. I am going to work on getting back into the swing of things.

With that in mind, I have been looking into some fun fall fashions! I have been seeing polka dots as a big trend. I love polka dots! It reminds me of something quintessentially old fashioned and classic. It is so cute and feminine.
I put together this set to show you different ways to wear dots. My favourite I think is the adorable polka dot romper! It brings that gorge 70s trend and gives it some classy, feminine spunk I also love love love the Missoni coat. Just so feminine, such clean lines. Just beautiful.

What do you think of the trend?

Celebrity Gossip: June 12 to 17

OK kiddies. I know it has been a while since I have put out one of these so here is a little one.

Hef and Crystal in happier times (Photo Source:
Gossip Juice.com)

- Hugh Hefner and fiance Crystal Harris have called it quits days before their wedding (June 18). Is anyone really surprised? Crystal says she called it off although it ended up being mutual. She says she decided she did not want to live that lifestyle and Hugh said he was only getting married to her because that is what he thought she wanted. No worries though kiddies, Crystal will prevail. Prepare for her album which she is working on... (People)

- Denise Richards is to pen a book (coming out July 27th) about the - and I quote from her - "beautiful love story" that was initially her relationship with Charlie Sheen, according to Perez Hilton. Hhhmmmm. She says she thinks a lot of woman can relate to her experience both the good and bad times. Hhhhmmm again...

Denise Richards (Photo Source: People.com)
 - Sean Bean (Sharpe, Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings) got stabbed for standing up to a dude who made leud comments towards a Playboy playmate in the bar .(People) After receiving first aid, he reportedly ordered another drink. And why not I ask you! Also, I wonder if he got lucky after that, huh?

- According to all news outlets, Natalie Portman had a baby boy! No names yet being reported. Can't wait to hear what she names him. I figure Natalie is pretty normal so I am hoping she chooses a unique yet realistic name. Very interested to hear what she chooses. She also has said she will be staying out of the spotlight for a while now that she has had her son. Good for her!

Sean Bean (Source: Gossip Juice.com)

- I can't believe I am mentioning this but, Rebecca Black's Friday, the lovely "artist" behind her smash internet sensation (haha) hit, has been pulled from youtube. Oh no. How will we be able to tell what day of the week comes after Wed. I think I will survive.

What are your thoughts? Do you think Sean Bean is super gallant? Can you relate to Denise Richards? Are you upset since it will now be impossible to tell the days of the week?

Enjoy!

My New Space

Good morning kiddies,

As I previously told you, I have been so MIA lately cause I have been working on settling into my new space. Well I am finally done! And here is a look...

Above is a look at my room from just inside the door. You can't see my bed that is to the left too well. I decided to paint my walls two different shades of blue. One wall - to the left - is a bright turquoise colour. The other three walls are a complimenting light blue. The walls remind me of the ocean and they are very nice bright which helps in this basement room.

Most of the work of actually creating this room was done by my parents. I did the finishing touches like paint (the first coat) and where things should go. My rents put up the walls, put down the floor, put in the ceiling, light fixtures etc. They did a wonderful job!

Here is the turquoise accent wall. I decided to hang up some of my art in a configuration like this because I really like symmetry and also, I thought the pot lights would hit them at the right angle to really make them pop. I think my couch looks phenomenal against this colour. I am hoping to get some pops of pink throughout the room eventually. It is still a work in progress.

Above and below are my books. You know how addicted I am to them well they need a prominent place to be displayed. I have been thinking about replacing the bookshelves with more classical looking shelving in white. This I think will have to wait for now.

I love that elephant below and above. I got it at Home Sense and when I saw it, I HAD TO HAVE IT!!

-

Below is a TV stand I recently bought at IKEA. I love the lines of it and the hardware. Even though I am in a basement room with only one small window, I wanted to make the most of it. I decided to hang my full drapes up (as you can see below) in order to create the illusion of height. I think it makes the ceiling look higher. Also, the colour goes very nicely with the paint.

I know I still have that silly lamp. It has actually grown on me. I might remove it but for now, I will keep it. So many people who see it really like it.

Now we are into the bedroom portion of my room.

Above is where the magic happends - my closet BUT I will get into that in a later post.

Now for the details in the room. Below is the central light fixture of the room. I love it. Super modern and clean. It also puts out a lot of light which is so necessary in a basement room.

Here is my bedside wall lamp. I love the shade. I find it clean, modern and still feminine. I also have a stand up version next the couch - you can see it in a photo above.

Now to show off the wonderful floors my rents put in for me. I was not a huge fan of the colour originally, but I think it looks awesome with the paint and my furniture.

So kiddies, what are your thoughts on my space? Worth my slight abandonment of you? I promise I will try and put out more posts more often.

Why I have been so MIA lately...

Hello kiddies,

I am so sorry I have been so MIA lately. Some big changes in my life: I moved so I have been very busy with that. I was a little in denial about (since I did not mention it to you all previously). I moved out of my lovely apartment back home to a new lovely room to save some money. So I have been decorating that, unpacking and assimilating Holly my chaton into the new environment ( my parents have animals so that has been interesting).

I promise I will have some new posts and pics up soon.

Pasta Confidential: the way to make a pasta sauce not from scratch...

Working full time does not afford me the luxury of making all my meals from scratch - and let's face it, a lot of meals in general.  Also, I am not very good at cooking for one person and especially when I cook stir-frys or pasta or things like that, it's a struggle to make only enough for one.

So I have created a delicious, nutritious (?), quick and easy way to make pasta after work - and it tastes fantastic! When  I make pasta,  I make a lot which I can then heat up later or freeze for future meals.  Here is a look at my creation:

Step 1: I start cutting up my ingredients, putting the water for pasta on to boil about halfway through my chopping. I usually have a lot of different kinds of veggies already cut in the freezer - like peppers, brocoli and spinach for this recipe.

I chopped onions and garlic to brown the chicken with. I cut one large chicken breast. I throw all that in together to brown while I continue cutting up the rest of my veggies.

For this recipe, I included the following veggies: mushrooms, tomatoes, red and yellow peppers, broccoli and spinach.

I like to have all my cutting down and put into bowls which makes it easier to just add them in when I need to while cooking.

Step 2: I let the chicken brown in olive oil with the onions and garlic adding some Italian seasoning. Covering to cook.

I love this seasoning because it has all the things I want like oregano, basil, garlic etc without having to use a bunch of different spice containers.

Step 3: About halfway through the cooking, I add the veggies that need a bit more time to cook like the broccoli and cover to cook.

The chicken should look like this when you add the crispier veggies like broccoli.

Step 4: I add the rest of the veggies, stirring and then covering to let them all cook and mix. I usually add some more Italian seasoning.

Step 5: After the veggies and chicken are well cooked, I can do one of two things: add a canned sauce like the ones below or skip this step. Depending on my mood, I can either.

The veggies and chicken should look like this before adding the sauce.
Today I decided to add the Vodka Sauce jar. It is a really nice cheesey, creamy sauce.

These are two popular sauces I like to use. I used the one on the left for this dish.
Veggies and chicken with sauce.

Sometimes at this stage, I will add a dash of wine. Tonight I didn't, but if I was not using a canned sauce at all, I would definitely add a little wine and olive oil to the pasta. Which brings me to...

Step 6: After draining the pasta, I add it all to the pan with the veggies, chicken and sauce. I stir it all together and let it sit and cook for a little bit.

TIP: I have been told by an Italian friend never to rinse the pasta because it makes it more difficult for the sauce to stick to the pasta.

Then voila: lovely, yummy meal...

It takes about 20-30 minutes from start to finish (you can add a few minutes in there for browning the chicken and cleaning up)

TIP: I hate cleaning up a seriously messy kitchen. My mum always told me that I should clean while cooking and I have definitely adopted that style. While the meat is browning or the veggies are cooking, or whatever, I do dishes.

So that's that...

What do you think of my quick pasta making?

xxx

Here is Holly my chaton watching me cook away. This is our usual routine. She watches while I do all the work!
