6 Things on My Radar

Evening kiddies,

I have seen other bloggers do these kinds of lists and I have myself done top ten lists, so I decided to try it out and write about six things that are on my radar at the moment - and really six things I most recently purchased... haha I did a lot of shopping this weekend... A LOT! So I thought since my purchases, among other things, are on my radar, I would share them with you!

1. Light blue nail polish: this trend is popping up all over the place and I am loving it! When I went to buy the nail polish, I was hoping to find a more minty looking colour but I am really pleased with what I found. I feel like it brings a splash of colour to everything I wear! It reminds me of the bluest part of the ocean where the sun hits it and it makes me think of tans, the beach, sand and sun. I just love it!

This is a Nicole by OPI colour called My Lifesaver (9$ from the drugstore)

2. Gold bracelet / necklace: I picked up this little versatile jem for 7$ at Smart Set. It was in fact my good friend TheJMay who said it could be worn as a bracelet as well as a necklace and she was so right! I love the gold, I love all the colour. It's just gorge and I will wear it a ton!!!

See both pics for the versatile way this piece can be worn.

3. Wing Earrings: Now these babies are my fav! I would and most likely will wear these so much!! I think they are a little rock and roll, a little badass and a whole lot of sass with a little Mayan or Greek flavor thrown in. I think they are just rockin. I love how gold they are, I love how big and showy they are. I just adore them. I got them at the Bay (Expressions Line). They also come in silver.

Expressions Line from the Bay (9$)

4. Gold / Metallic Sandals: I have been looking and looking for the perfect pair of metallic glad sandals all summer. My mum wanted to celebrate (she had a skin graft tested and everything turned out ok and she is fine!!!) so we went to go shopping: first to Globo and then to our next fav store: the bookstore (see next fav thing for that).

The minute I saw these beauties, I knew they were the right ones I have been looking for. I think they are the perfect ambiguous metallic that will go with everything. I can wear them with silver, gold and bronze and I can wear them with any kind of pant or skirt or dress. I am totally looking forward to matching them up with some super outfits.

5. Books, Books, Books: The next stop on my mum's celebration train was our fav, fav, fav store: the bookstore!! I picked up a few books to add to my collection for summer reading! (Look for a future post about my summer reading list so far!) On this trip, I got two more in the Anita Blake series of Vampire books, the second book in the Del Toro virus series (so good and scary!!) and what I am most excited about the newest Game of Thrones book: A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin.

I have already started it and I am soooo excited!!! It is sooo good! I highly recommend this series. If you like books about the middle ages and fantasy books, this is the two combined. Lots of graphic battles, violence, sex and intrigue. What I like best about the books is the way the author has a point of view of a character in each chapter. You understand their mind, thoughts and motives and then you move on to another point of view and get a completely different look at the same event. Its a great and exciting way to create rich characters and complicated, interweaving narrative.

6. True Blood: This just needs to be mentioned because this season has been amazing and I just needed to say that. Watch it, you won't regret it. It is pure sex and hilarity and violence.

So one of my co-workers from my old group at work gave me this bottle of Tru Blood because she was leaving the agency and had no use for this any longer. I am torn about whether I should drink it or not... hhhmmm...

Anyways, thoughts? What do you think of my new purchases? Do those wing earrings also remind you of a badass 70s rocker? What do you think of blue nail polish?

My New Space

Good morning kiddies,

As I previously told you, I have been so MIA lately cause I have been working on settling into my new space. Well I am finally done! And here is a look...

Above is a look at my room from just inside the door. You can't see my bed that is to the left too well. I decided to paint my walls two different shades of blue. One wall - to the left - is a bright turquoise colour. The other three walls are a complimenting light blue. The walls remind me of the ocean and they are very nice bright which helps in this basement room.

Most of the work of actually creating this room was done by my parents. I did the finishing touches like paint (the first coat) and where things should go. My rents put up the walls, put down the floor, put in the ceiling, light fixtures etc. They did a wonderful job!

Here is the turquoise accent wall. I decided to hang up some of my art in a configuration like this because I really like symmetry and also, I thought the pot lights would hit them at the right angle to really make them pop. I think my couch looks phenomenal against this colour. I am hoping to get some pops of pink throughout the room eventually. It is still a work in progress.

Above and below are my books. You know how addicted I am to them well they need a prominent place to be displayed. I have been thinking about replacing the bookshelves with more classical looking shelving in white. This I think will have to wait for now.

I love that elephant below and above. I got it at Home Sense and when I saw it, I HAD TO HAVE IT!!

-

Below is a TV stand I recently bought at IKEA. I love the lines of it and the hardware. Even though I am in a basement room with only one small window, I wanted to make the most of it. I decided to hang my full drapes up (as you can see below) in order to create the illusion of height. I think it makes the ceiling look higher. Also, the colour goes very nicely with the paint.

I know I still have that silly lamp. It has actually grown on me. I might remove it but for now, I will keep it. So many people who see it really like it.

Now we are into the bedroom portion of my room.

Above is where the magic happends - my closet BUT I will get into that in a later post.

Now for the details in the room. Below is the central light fixture of the room. I love it. Super modern and clean. It also puts out a lot of light which is so necessary in a basement room.

Here is my bedside wall lamp. I love the shade. I find it clean, modern and still feminine. I also have a stand up version next the couch - you can see it in a photo above.

Now to show off the wonderful floors my rents put in for me. I was not a huge fan of the colour originally, but I think it looks awesome with the paint and my furniture.

So kiddies, what are your thoughts on my space? Worth my slight abandonment of you? I promise I will try and put out more posts more often.

Why I have been so MIA lately...

Hello kiddies,

I am so sorry I have been so MIA lately. Some big changes in my life: I moved so I have been very busy with that. I was a little in denial about (since I did not mention it to you all previously). I moved out of my lovely apartment back home to a new lovely room to save some money. So I have been decorating that, unpacking and assimilating Holly my chaton into the new environment ( my parents have animals so that has been interesting).

I promise I will have some new posts and pics up soon.

Wills and Kate Get Married!!!!!!!!

Happy Wedding Day Monarch Enthusiasts!!

Wills and Kate at Westminster Abbey. Harry and Pippa Middleton in the background.

What an exciting day!! Catherine Middleton and Prince William - from now on known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - got married at Westminster Abbey with receptions at Buckingham Palace to follow.

If you know me, you know how fascinated by the royals I am. I love history and especially English history. Queen Elizabeth I is one of my idols. I love a strong woman who sticks to her ideals.
I did not get up early, but when I was watching the coverage tonight of the wedding I started tearing up quite a bit. I thought this wedding was sooo beautiful and romantic. It brought out all my little girl princess fantasies - although I clearly do not want all that attention that comes with it.

Will and Kate look so in love and happy. It is so sweet. I read that Wills even said to Kate when she got to the end of the aisle that she looked beautiful! AWWW!!!

Check out some pics of the big day below:

Wills and Kate leaving Westminster.

Her dress by Alexander McQueen - creative designer Sarah Burton - (who I love love love) has grown on me as I look at it more and more. When I first saw it, I was not happy. I thought it was too conservative. I wanted to see her in something classy but less traditional. But I realize she had to choose a more conservative traditional dress because of the milieu in which she got married. And for what she had to work with, her dress really is beautifully detailed.

Burton created a wonder of lace and satin. The bodice is sweetheart shaped with lace overlay hand-made in England in the traditional Carrickmacross style. Her train was modestly only 8 feet in length with both English and French Chantilly lace and 58 covered buttons. Lots of satin!

I did really like the way she did her hair and makeup. Very nice and understated. It always nice to be natural on your wedding day. I also love love loved her tiara that the Queen lent her. Very ornate but subtle. Nice bling!

Kate`s second dress also by McQueen

Now I ADORE ADORE ADORE LOVE LOVE LOVE her second wedding gown. This is more the kind of thing I wanted to see her in. When I saw this dress it definitely made me like her other gown better. I mean she can have more than one dress? Why not have the perfect princess ball gown and the beautiful classic modern elegant dress.

This dress is more simple with a lovely ring of diamonds around the waist. I love her little bolero as well. Just stunning!! The sweetheart neckline really suits her!

What do you think of her two gowns? Hot or not?

Stay tuned for photos of wedding guests which will include of course crazy hats considering it is an English wedding!!
