Colour Colour Everywhere

Hello kiddies,

This will be the first in a series of fashion posts where I take a look at some the fashions this spring.

Colour is a big element this season. Everywhere you look, there are bold colours (maybe to counter the drab outside!! Oh Canadian Spring!). This is wonderful. I do love black... but I must admit I am liking this trend. It is so different from what I have been seeing lately.

Some of the most trendy colours on the runways include hot pinks, reds, oranges, yellows, neons, blues, purples. Mostly all bright bright bright. But there is also a lot of lovely jewel tones showing up. There is definitely a colour for all complexions out there!

How to wear this trend: You cannot get enough colour. The biggest trend in colour this season is colour blocking. This is when you wear two or more very bright colours next to each other sometimes on the same garment. Wear two or even three colours together (the more colour the better!) Make sure the one closest to your face is complimenting to your complexion, eye colour, hair colour etc.

Also hair and makeup should be minimal. You don't want to overdo it. I like the swept back bun or low messy ponytail and maybe a bright lip and natural looking eye. One of the greatest things about all this colour is it will definitely show off your lovely summer tan!

One the most important things to remember when using colour is how you match it up. You could put together different shades of the same colour. Check out the Marc by Marc Jacobs above. He plays with different shades of the same colour. I love the colour shades he goes for. They are bright but the satiny material makes them look very rich.

But my favourite is opposing colours. See the photo above with the girl in the green pants with the orange coat and purple blouse (by Gucci). This is a fierce outfit. The colours are so rich and beautiful. Her accessories work to bring it all together. Gold is very big this season and so are both the tassel belt and oversized clutch which she is rocking! It really pulls her look together. Also ankle clasp sandals are all the rage.

Coloured patterns like this gorgeous Marc Jacobs dress below are also gracing the runways. I adore this dress. It has a great length.

Check out my set below for more colourful ideas. My favourite piece below are the green Gucci pants. They are just so gorge and to die for. They are shown on  a model above. I also love the yellow zipper skirt by Tibi.

What are your thoughts on this new colour trend?
